Should I Exercise Prior to Double Hip Replacement?

During summer of 2014 I had put on 2 stone (which I had lost previously) was feeling negative and unwell.

X-rays revealed tear and wear of the joint cup.

All the advice pre hip-replacement, I hear and see from my parents friends is to lose weight and be fit. But how??

Exercise – movement of the hip joint increases movement which increases pain, increases tear and wear. Don’t exercise and you gain weight.

I admit never been a health nutter!! Why not I hear you say? Will answer that in a post later.

Early signs of problems arising was 2-3 years prior to x-rays. When I last walked on solid tarmac back soreness was becoming more and more frequent. Stopped walking and replaced with time in the gym.

It is a vicious circle of events. Gain weight puts more weight on the hip joint, to reduce weight you must exercise. Only exercise i love to do is cardio – cycling, running, rowing and swimming. As per previous post I had to stop running (or jogging if truth be known) on treadmill and swimming using the breast stroke technique.

Rowing (via a rowing machine) is a good-overall exercise but was finding soreness increased during and after use. Treadmill was much the same due to shock loads.

Late summer 2014 discovered inflammatory supplement range of product called Isotonix. Now I am slowly returning back to the gym.
